La escuela Normal Rural “Justo Sierra Méndez”, de Cañada Honda, Aguascalientes necesita nuestro apoyo y solidaridad. El gobierno estatal con el respaldo del federal, intenta acabar con este proyecto educativo, popular y femenil.
El acoso y la agresión hacia las normales rurales se ha intensificado con el cobarde ataque de las fuerzas estatales contra las estudiantes normalistas de Aguascalientes. A la desaparición de los 43 normalistas rurales de Ayotzinapa, ahora se suma el ataque contra otra escuela normal rural hermana, pero femenil. Al asalto sistemático contra el normalismo rural, ahora se agrega e intensifica la agresión contra la mujer mexicana.
El 2 de junio las fuerzas policíacas reprimieron a las estudiantes que hacían una protesta. Esa misma tarde, la policía trató de meterse a la escuela y desalojar a las jóvenes aspirantes a maestras.
Y el único delito de estas muchachas es exigir al gobierno estatal el cumplimiento de sus compromisos: mantener la inscripción de 120 estudiantes (que el gobierno quiere reducir a 100) y que la escuela se mantenga como escuela para mujeres (intenta convertirla en mixta). Esas son las exigencias de las aspirantes a maestras. Pero la intensión verdadera del gobierno es desaparecerla, empezando con la reducción de becas. Esa es la política neoliberal hacia los proyectos educativos populares como es el caso de las normales rurales. El asesinato y la desaparición de estudiantes en Aytozinapa y el intento de desaparición de la escuela de Cañada Honda, son parte de la misma política de la clase en el poder.
Esta escuela, como el resto de las normales rurales, recibe a jóvenes de escasos recursos económicos de Aguascalientes y estados circunvecinos. Su sueño es convertirse en maestras para posteriormente regresar a las comunidades de donde salieron y educar a niños y niñas que como ellas, sólo buscan una oportunidad para romper el ciclo de pobreza. Y el gobierno quiere acabar con este proyecto popular.
El ataque contra la mujer mexicana ahora toma otro giro en México. Los asesinatos que han llegado a nivel de feminicidios, las agresiones que a diario reciben las mujeres tanto en la calle, como en las escuelas, en los centros de trabajo y en sus hogares, ahora se extienden a estas instituciones.
Hacemos un llamado a los y las activistas y colectivos y organizaciones nacionales e internacionales para apoyar y difundir las acciones de las estudiantes de Cañada Honda Aguascalientes.
Hacemos un llamado a estar alertas en caso de represión para protestar en las embajadas y consulados en el extranjero.
Hacemos un llamado al pueblo de Cañada y de todo México para que proteja uno de los pocos espacios exclusivo de mujeres que existe en México.
Hacemos un llamado a los y las activistas sociales mexicanos a que se unan a la lucha de las compañeras de la Escuela Normal Rural “Justo Sierra” de Cañada Honda, Aguascalientes.
¡Exigimos el cese inmediato de los ataques contra las estudiantes de Cañada Honda y de la FECSM !
¡Exigimos mantener la matrícula de 120 estudiantes de nuevo ingreso!
¡Exigimos mantener la escuela exclusivamente para mujeres!

The Rural Normal School Justo Sierra of Cañada Honda, Aguascalientes needs our support and a show of solidarity. The state government, with the backing of the federal government, intends to close this low income educational program for women.
The harassment of and the agression towards the rural normal schools has intensified with this cowardly attack against the normal school students by the state armed forces of Aguascalientes. To the disappearance of the 43 rural normal students of Ayotzinapa we now add the attack against another rural normal school, this time a women´s campus. The systematic assault against rural normal schools intensifies and the assault against Mexican women intensifies.
On June 2, police forces repressed protesting students. That same afternoon the police entered the school and tried to remove the aspiring teachers from campus.
The only crime committed by these young women is in demanding that the government honor its commitment to maintain the freshman enrollment of the school at 120 students (which the government wants to reduce to 100) and maintain the all female enrollment (which the government intends to change to mixed, male/female). These are the demands of the aspiring teachers. But the true intention of the government is to do away with the school entirely, beginning first with a reduction of scholarships. These are the neoliberal political steps taken against populist, low income educational programs such as the rural normal schools. The killings and kidnappings of students of Ayotzinapa and the attempted closing of the school at Cañada Honda are part of the same plan of the ruling class.
This school, as in all rural normal schools, receives low income youth of Aguascalientes and surrounding states. Their dream is to become teachers and then return to their communities and educate poor children like themselves. They only need a way to break the cycle of poverty. This is the program that the government is trying to end.
With this, the attack against women in Mexico now adds another dimension. The killings that have reached the level of feminicide, the aggression against women in the street, at school, on the job, at home, now extends to institutions of higher learning.
We call for activists, collectives, organizations, national and International, to support and spread the word regarding actions taken by the students of Cañada Honda, Aguascalientes.
We call for all to be on alert in case of repression in Cañada Honda and to protest at Mexican consulates and embassies outside of Mexico
We call on the people of Cañada and all of Mexico to protect one of the few places that exists in Mexico exclusively for women.
We call on social activists of Mexico to unite with the young women of the Rural Normal School of Justo Sierra of Cañada Honda, Aguascalientes.
We demand an immediate end to the attacks against the students of Cañada, Honda!
We demand the level of new enrollees continue at 120!
We demand an all women´s college!
We demand an end to the attacks on the women of Mexico!
LAST MINUTE NEWS: On June 9th, a group of students from Tiripetio, Michoacan, of Vasco de Quiroga Rural Normal School, who were traveling home by bus after visiting Cañada Honda, were brutally attacked by police forces of Aguascalientes. The violent and illegal attack left several students hospitalized, including one at risk of losing an eye.
